The Longest Winter

The Rational Investor said before that NBC is really dropping the ball with its Olympic coverage. He’s better than me simply because I’m not even watching it! I can’t say it’s an American thing with the Olympics since everyone is reporting that NBC’’s ratings are up unlike when Leno is on (sorry I couldn’t resist). But personally, the Olympics — especially, the winter Olympics– aren’t my thing. Sports that depend on judges to rate a performance, as a primary method of determining a winner, or have you racing against a clock just aren’t much fun. And competitve sports like hockey, & curling just don’t work for me. At least the summer Olympics have track & field boxing and other sports that many of us have experienced at some point in life. Who hasn’t raced someone?
What’s worse is that football season is over, baseball season is weeks away and in NYC, we have the Knicks so the season has been over since Dolan purchased the team in ‘94. Being the sports fan that I am, it’s a painful, painful time. Pretty boy I’m all about the money when I know I can win. Floyd Mayweather has managed to ruin the super fight so that’s not an option. Also looking towards the the tourney is going to be tourture since the genius…

who traded the Knicks first round picks for talents like chinese starbury & eddie the bench heater has made watching college ball an excerise in pain! So this is the longest part of the winter given the dearth of sporting enjoyment.

i could care less about the sport. i just want to see fights, disappointments (especially home team loses), crashes and beef. this is all that interests me. nba is a joke in terms of all of those aspects ever since artest got suspended the entire season for protecting himself – so i wont watch it. nfl i like watching people choke. winter olympics i like watching hyped up people fail and announcers talking shit about them after they just hyped them up.
That’s sports to me.

The NBA is joke for a few reasons…its a horribly broken system, that has become more individualized since the 80’s…Even in the last great era of basketball if you didn’t have a star you were f’ed, and sadly now there are fewer stars to go around
The NFL is about to strike which is effin dumb..i can’t feel bad for millionaires fighting with billionaires especially given the state of the economy.
And the winter Olympics are a bunch of sports that most people that I know have never played nor will ever play…eff it
